We looked everywhere for a replacement for our OLD electric skillet and finally decided on this one. So many of them nowadays are very large, so this was a real find at 12″!
Pre-heating is really fast and the heat was even. Cleanup was a snap.

I purchased this skillet in November 2007. After using it just a couple of times, the numbers wore off the controller! I’m still using it, but very disappointed about the numbers, as I now need to guess at the temperature. Overall, the skillet does its job well. I love the glass lid and the vented lid.

All in all, this was a very good buy. We have had several electric skillets in the past and this one we decided would be smaller than the rest. It works just fine. In fact, my husband says the quick release pan control is one of the neatest things to come on the market. Has nothing but accolades for the person who came up with the idea.

This replaced a old Kitchen Aid fry pan that bit the dust after 20 years. We opted for this product mainly for the see-thru lid and tilt function.
We have used it several times since receiving it and are very pleased with it’s control. We find that for the hot desert where we live, you want to keep the number of kitchen appliances operating at a minimum, this product accomplishes that. We have used it for many things, hamburgers, breakfast, all parts, eggs, bacon, potatos etc., it’s great for hash browns.
One of the things that we noted in the previous reviews was the rather quick deterioration of the numbers for the heat control. To eliminate this problem we painted over the numbers with clear nail polish, it didn’t harm the control and hopefully it will ensure continued readability of the numbers.
We expect many years of use with this product and for the price it was a great purchase.

First, the pros: it heats up and cooks as well as any other electric skillet.
Now for the cons: unlike other designs, this unit is vented through the handle. Completely nonsensical! If you’re cooking anything that produces steam and plan on using the lid, you would be STRONGLY advised to purchase some good pot holders. I got used to using my 16″ Presto which has a steam escape down on the lid so grabbing the handle is never a problem. The other con from my perspective is the cord attachment. It requires some real diligence getting it plugged into the pan since it’s a very tight and precise fit.
Would I recommend this Oster to anyone? No way.
